Looking forward to the weekend at the Minnesota State Fair. Hope everyone can make it out. We have all the CD's in print and also the new one "Viva La Twang!"....some T-shirts...photos and kittens...(maybe not kittnes?). For the MP3ers we have released the first single from the CD, "Six Nights Of Sin" with a b-side "Coffee Stains Waltz" on Download card. Hope to get a few of the new ones into the show both Friday & Saturday.
Info about the songs... Six Nights Of Sin, kind of speaks for itself... it was written for my Uncle Junior, who claimed he was as bad as Bobby Vee was good! Not a bad claim to fame. The song pretty much tells the story of good ol' Uncle Junior.
Coffee Stains Waltz...a road trip tune. Over the years I really wanted to write this song...it finally showed up.
When I was young growing up in LA, as a family we would road trip every Summer camping out etc...to a lake home in Detroit Lakes MN. My father had this tape that he would play over and over again, we would fall asleep to it...wake up to it. To this day I remember those road trips from the songs on that tape...like a lullaby, songs of Summer. It was a blue tape. We called it "The Coffee Stains Tape", because the only real way to ID it from other tapes was that it had coffee stains on the label from sitting on the dash.
Cool stuff.
Hope to see you this weekend!

Wow its been awhile since my last blog... Must of been a busy last few months.
We had a fun New Years down in Kansas City, Isle of Capri Casino! Last weekend we were at the Royal River Casino in SD... Loved that place, fun crowd! We even got a standing ovation.
Thank you to everyone that made it out over the Holidays to say hello. We tryed out the new stage at Mystic Lake over Christmas, very cool setup.
UK Tour was very fun! Very busy schedule, I think we wore out our faithful tour manager "Right Away" Wendy and driver "Round About" Dave!! I don't think they ever thought they'd be stuck on the M1 at 4AM with Big Jack Pots and yours truly. They put up with us, got us to every show on time and let Big Jack Pots drink all their 25-50 year old Scotch (god bless'm)... Shows went well, we had some great crowds and memorable shows. Paul Attwell from (UK chart toppers) "Edison Lighthouse" fame joined us on drums... did a great job and fit right in. We filmed every show and recorded our Southend show. Hope to have a Live UK CD out this year and a DVD from the tour. One of my favorite nights was, after a Rockin' night with an amazing crowd, we were escorted out to the Eddy Cochran memorial site... something I've always wanted to do and I was presented with an original piece of art of Eddy by the artist. A great memory. Jack Pots and I had been reading a book on the tour about Eddy and Gene Vincents final UK tour that took Eddy's life, it was a great synchronicity that we got to visit the memorial site. We have just started making plans for our next UK tour. Might try and bring Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon with us next time. It was a fun lineup in 2004.
The band for 2009 has locked into its new lineup and I'm very thrilled about it. On Stand up Bass: King Creole, on Drums: Jeff Bjork (both original members of rockabilly rockers Jack Knife and the Sharps) and on Twang guitars: Big Jack Pots. Micheal Jay will also be joining us on select shows as always. Look for Paul Attwell on UK shows and we hope to get him over to the states for some Midwest shows.
We are putting the final touches on the new CD that will be titled "Viva La Twang" (work title Coffee Stains)... Should be out in a month or so.
Also, Penny... our rock-n-roll buddy passed away over the holidays after a long fight with cancer. She and her family are in our thoughts and prayers. She will be missed!
Take care everyone, happy 2009. See you at the shows!

Just got back from Watertown SD... Thanks to everyone for coming out to the show! FUN crowd, great dancing...and I bought a cool western suit for $2 at the thrift store (half off sale, though it was worth every penny of the 4 bucks)!! I always enjoy talking to everyone after the show and getting to know you better, new friendships and great conversation. We leave soon to go over seas for a few weeks of dates and then we return to Watertown for a couple shows on the 24th and the 25th of Oct. Make sure you tell your friends, reletives, neighbors... mailman, 1st, 2nd, 3rd cousins and anyone else you can think of to join the Rock-N-Roll Caravan for an evening of Crash, Boom, Banging it out! Its been fun watching the crowds grow everytime we come into town thanks to word of mouth and YOU & you & you...
Hankinson was a blast on Wednesday. Gallas, King Creole and myself got to try out the Rock-N-Roll Trio to a full room of Rockers! We appreciate those brave enough to shake a leg on a week night. Look forward to seeing you again on November 14 & 15, we always appreciate familiar faces...and leg shakers.

Hope this blog finds everyone well!
We are finishing up a fun summer of shows and jumping right into our Fall dates...
Thanks to everyone that came out to our Summer shows and sent photos & video into the robbyvee.com, we hope to get it all up onto the site soon... so keep checking back.
Thanks to everyone that showed up for the show in St Cloud...Freeeeeeeeeeezing! Cold night, thanks for sticking around! Alot of really fun shows this Summer, Bob & Cindy's Bash, Guitars & Cars, Rolla ND, Fairbolt (Max & Dave), Thief River Falls, Santa Barbara CA... great fun playing outside at Mystic Lake Casino for the Corvette show, perfect Summer night! Too many shows to list all of them, thank you to everyone that came out to party with us.
The website is slowly getting into shape, our idea is to keep it as simple as possible so its easy to find everything quick (unlike my desk in my office)...Hope we're on the right track.
NEW features: The street team is coming together good... The idea behind this is to create a core of people to help our grass roots movement of KEEPING ROCK-N-ROLL ALIVE (and bring back the Pompadour)... it'll take a handful of tough Warriors to do this mission. Hoping to create some fun with this. In this area of the website, there are ideas on how to help us get people out to shows as well as a blog for street teamers to share ideas with each other. I appreciate every little bit of help we get.
We are starting to promote a new Caravan Show: Robert Gordon & Robby Vee, checkout the press page and the Caravan Show page to learn more about Robert... he's a great rocker and I look forward to putting some shows together with him.
I've made all my music free on the Music page of the website... I hope everyone enjoys this addition to the site. Look for Robby Vee Bootlegs, which will consist of bootleg recordings from various shows and will be updated from time to time. Also look for Vee Demo's, this will be odds and ends from the recording studio... most likely mixes from my new CD that I'm working on...as I'm working on it. Last, we added the Video page. There are a handful of songs posted, I hope we can find some more to add in the future.
October 6th we leave to start our UK tour... We are looking forward to this. The street team & robbyvee.co.uk team has been doing a great job getting the word out so far. We will be listing in the Street Team Blog the promotional efforts done so far, we appreciate all everyone has done and if anyone wants to join this effort please feel free to contact Wendy at the robbyvee.co.uk website or simply post the UK Tour schedule from robbyvee.com on blogs, chat rooms, i-groups, message boards etc... when hanging out on some of your favorite music sites.
Did I mention... Thank You?!
I hope to find time in the near future to blog some fun stories from the road...maybe video too?
Please keep writing to us and sending photos etc... if there are songs from the CD's that I am not currently playing in the show that you want to hear... Please let me know and I will add them to the list.
Loving thoughts and prayers go out to our Rockin' Roll buddy Penny... Who we've missed at the shows. Get Well!

We appreciate all the emails and photos... we hope to have the pictures up on the rvee.com soon to share with everyone.
"Cars & Guitars" in Hopkins was a fun night with great weather... cool cars and Gretsch guitars!
Al's Rockabilly Quartet were also on the show... cool band if you havn't heard them yet please check them out. Al is from the Vibro Champs. Loved the photos of the young Vee fans complete with T-Shirts. The T-shirts said Robby Vee fan on the back and each one had a different song on the front... I'm not sure I actually played one song from the shirts... sorry about that... Next time, I'll play them all.
We started our video Blog from the road this past week on our way up to a show in Thief River Falls... Big Jack Pots behind the wheel, Michael Jay gave a tour of the big rig... I just have to edit it all down, should be up on YouTube soon. SMTV/ Devil Dog Records has started putting some promotional videos up on YouTube, mostly low budget clips from shows and photos with Cd songs to get the music out there. If anyone has any footage from the show, please feel free to put some footage up on the web or send it to us and we will add it to our YouTube Channel.
Thanks everyone up in Thief River Falls and Still Water MN. GREAT! parties, we all had a blast.
Joint was jumpin'. Hope to see all of you again.
The Rock-N-Roll Caravan page on the site should be up this week, please go to the Press page and download the poster, check it out. I get alot of people asking me for copies of the videos that play at the shows. The truth is, I have no way of copying DVD's at the moment (or maybe I do and just don't know it). If anyone has any input on this, I would gladly be up for that.
This week we'll be rockin' at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake MN. Saturday I believe is an early show 7pm. We are playing outside for a Corvette car show and during the day I'll be hosting Laker Idol at the Lake Front Park in Prior Lake... I think I'm also playing a song or two, I just read that in the news paper today...so I must be? Event starts at 2:30.
Also, we are starting our promotional push for our UK tour, anyone who would like to help us out on a street team level, please feel free to visit our press page and UK Tour page for promotional downloads and posters, flyers, videos etc... we appreciate ALL the help. If anyone has time to visit music chat rooms or forms, please put a mention of our October Tour coming up or feel free to contact my International agent Wendy at robbyvee.co.uk. for info or input. Thanks!!
Hope to see you all at the shows...

Thanks for coming out to the big shooow this past weekend. We always love playing Treasure Island Casino. We appreciate the song requests from my Cd's as well as the songs from the Vee's Cd's. We pulled a few other good rockin' tunes out of the hat this weekend..."Flying High" (flip side to Suzy Baby, B. Vee)... Nervous, Robert Gordan...even the Fugitive, good ol' Merle!
We promise to re-learn "Rockin' Pompadour" one of these days...so we can rev it up fast and go real slow!
My wife Mary was at the show on Saturday... and my daughter Talula-Grace (1 1/2) was up in the room with her older cousin Nikki. It was fun going up to the room and visiting her between shows. She made sure to sing to me her greatest hits... Twinkle Little Star, E-I E-I OHHH and the Alphabet song... I think she's got the music bug. After a long night she was up at 7:30 jumping on my back saying Daddy lets go e-i-e-i-o... Very Cute!
One of my favorite things about playing these shows, is talking music trivia on the breaks with other music fans... Saturday was all about that thanks to my friends from Inver Grove Heights. The show always has a good spark to it when you guys come out...looking forward to the Family Bar-B-Q.
We started making plans this weekend to put together the Street Team part of my website... I'm not even sure how this works? But, we are making plans to figure it out. Its basically gonna have some pdf promotional downloads to help get music lovers out to the shows via our old style Rockin' Roll grass roots movement.
Last,
I've been struggling for years to name the band... V-Rockets, the non-Vee's, Swingers Club, Viva La Twang, Viva La GoGo, rvee & his Band... Too drunk. At any night I think we called the band these names and others...
I hav'nt come up with a name I like until now. I like the band environment, I love working with talented people and I like to treat my band less as a backup band and more as a review of talent. Its fun for me to show-case the talent on stage...Michael Jay, Big Jack Pots, King Creole etc...
I've just started calling the band "The Rockin' Roll Caravan" named after the old Dick Clark Caravan of the Stars. I'm gonna put a feature on the website for the Caravan artist with bio's and photo's so everyone can learn about these great players I get the opportunity to work with every week.
We'll be at Cars & Guitars street dance for Hopkin's Performing Arts Center on Friday night and The Hockey Arena in Sauk Rapids on Saturday. Hope to see you there.

Tonight we featured King Creole on the Dog House Bass. King Creole aka Bryan Williams is one of the founding members of Jack Knife and The Sharps, he may be one of the best Stand-up bass players around. Big Jack Pots was playing the Twang tonight, Micheal Jay took the night off, he hit a deer on his way home from the Rolla show on Saturday... so Micheal took a personal day to get his wheels rolling again.
Look forward to seeing you out this weekend at Treasure Island Casino. Playing in the band will be the amazzzzing Michael Jay, Big Jack Pots...King Creole and Gallas from "Dallas"...
See you at the show!

Michael Jay was in top form, his old band the Nitro Brothers played a reunion set that brought the place down.
Saturday we were in Rolla ND. Rolla is where my family on the Vee side homesteaded. I stopped by the original farm now owned by (uncle) Wilfred... On the wall was the original homestead papers signed by T. Roosevelt himself dated July 21, 1203. Joining me on stage for my second show was (Cousin's) Johnny and Kevin it was a regular family jambouree. Johnny sang some Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins...even an auctioneer song. Fun night. We started making plans to do a out door concert in Perth ND next July. A "Music On The Prarie" reunion. We'll keep you posted as we start making plans. Upon arriving home I got several emailed pictures of a Tornado that went through town after we left... Looks like we just made it out of town.
Keep It Rockin' On and On!
